Center for Women’s Health is the first OB/GYN practice in and around West Monroe to offer 4-D ultrasound, which takes three-dimensional ultrasound images and adds the element of time to the process. This produces live-action images of your unborn child that you can view on a computer monitor.
With 4-D ultrasound, Dr. Leslie R. Coffman is better-able to measure fetal size and determine the baby’s due date, determine the position of the fetus and the placenta and check on the baby’s growth rate and sex. 4-D ultrasound is also used to evaluate abnormalities in the uterus, ovaries and fetus and to monitor multiple and/or high-risk pregnancies.
Dr. Coffman offers comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound arterial studies, as well as comprehensive examinations of abdominal and pelvic organs. In 4-D ultrasound, a stream of high-frequency soundwaves is sent through the body with a small hand-held transducer pressed directly against the skin. The ultrasound transducer records the echoes that come off the body’s fluids, tissues and organs, and the ensuing waves are measured and converted into live-action images by a computer.
